Chaostle Status Report (January 12, 2010)
We are excited to announce that Chaostle is going back into production after a three and a half year delay due to an ongoing lawsuit with the old manufacturer. Our new manufacturer has done excellent quality work in creating Chaostle beyond expectations. We believe this game will be well worth the wait! We have switched the pewter miniatures to plastic to help bring the retail cost of the down although we plan to provide high-quality lead-free pewter miniatures in the future as a specialty release.
Chaostle Status Report (July 24, 2006)
The production of the Chaostle game is on hold until further notice. It is unfortunate that we trusted a manufacturer that appears to have misrepresented themselves in many ways. We are pursuing a lawsuit at this time. Unfortunately we can never get back all of the lost time. In the meantime, we will be looking into our options including a new manufacturer, and even self production of some of the game components. If you are an inventor, please be careful of who you do business with. There are a lot of bad people and predatory businesses out there that will take advantage of your excitement and desire to get your product to market. Make sure you check several references even if the company appears to be very legitimate.
Chaostle Status Report (April 25, 2006)
The manufacturer has once again paused the Chaostle production against our requests to continue on schedule. There are many issues causing the new delays ranging from contract disputes, manufacturing mistakes, and accounting errors. As a result, we will be refunding everyone’s money that ordered and reserved a game through National Games Week. Hopefully the manufacturer will be reasonable as we are doing everything we can to come to an agreement with them. Otherwise, the game may be put on hold for a long time while we pursue our legal options. We apologize for these delays even though they are unfortunately out of our control.
Chaostle Status Report (February 24, 2006)
We had a meeting with the manufacturer today and confirmed that all aspects of the Chaostle game are ready to move forward. The manufacturer agreed to make sure that our progress and communications from now on are much better than in the past. We were able to come to agreement on the production terms for the pewter miniatures as well. They will begin tooling the castle pieces almost immediately. We will no longer be attending the GAMA Trade Show next month so that we can focus on production.
Chaostle Status Report (January 30, 2006)
All of the original characters will remain in the game! We no longer plan to swap some of them out with the add-on characters so the lineup will continue as originally planned. The retail cost of the game will not be affected. We hired artist Britt Martin to illustrate four new characters for chapter two of Chaostle. He recently completed the illustrations consisting of an Angel (Good), Illusionist (Magic), Medusa (Chaos), and Stone Titan (Neutral). The illustrations turned out great and have been forwarded on to Sandra Garrity who has been contracted to sculpt the pewter miniatures.
Chaostle Status Report (December 27, 2005)
Chaostle has lived up to its name in 2005 with much chaos resulting in production delays. The two major issues involved reproduction of the castles and the rising cost of pewter for the miniatures. The castle pieces were resculpted to meet production requirements maintaining most of the original detail. Several of the heavier miniatures in the game will be replaced with lighter add-on characters to reduce the amount of pewter per game to keep the cost reasonable. Do not worry; the game will still come with sixteen pewter miniatures and the large dragon character will remain one of them. We look forward to Chaostle finally being available in 2006 now that these major issues have been resolved!
Chaostle Status Report (November 15, 2005)
The re-sculpting of the castle pieces is finally completed. This was a major cause of past delays, and therefore a significant accomplishment towards the completion of the game. We were able to maintain almost all of the details of the original sculpted castles. The graphics design of the individual battle cards and the game board are done. The graphics design of the game instructions is almost done awaiting a few minor adjustments. The first convention in 2006 that Chivalry Games plans to attend is the GAMA Trade Show in Las Vegas from March 13th through March 16th. Come visit us at booth 617 in the Riviera, Royale Pavillion.
Chaostle Status Report (October 27, 2005)
The sample castle pieces expected from the factory have still not arrived resulting in some new delays. They are experiencing challenges in re-sculpting the castles to capture all of the detail, and be the correct size to accommodate the shrinkage that occurs during the production process. We are also revisiting the pewter mix for the character miniatures to ensure that they are high quality and cost effective. These extended efforts will result in Chaostle being an exceptional product, but will unfortunately result in the game no longer being available by the end of 2005. We hope to release the game as soon as possible in 2006.
Chaostle Status Report (September 27, 2005)
New finalized samples of the castle pieces are anticipated from the factory soon for approval. Much of the final graphics for the game including the battle cards, instructions and game board are being reviewed and approved. Rehtmeyer (the company managing the game production) will be visiting the factory soon to try to speed up the process and ensure that quality standards are being met. We are still working towards a 2005 release date for Chaostle. Chapter 2 of the Chaostle story has been completed, and will be available in 2006. It will introduce four new characters along with their battle cards and pewter minis. Chapter 2 will also introduce an alternate way to play the game that goes along with the continuing story.
Chaostle Status Report (August 25, 2005)
Progress continues to be made with the game production with no new delays. The castle pieces have been resized to account for the shrinking that occurs during the manufacturing process. Final details are being added to the castles such as spiders on the spider trap walls. Designs and tooling for the colored snap-on bases (used to identify the team of the character) are being completed now that we resolved the sizing issues with the pewter minis. The final box dimensions are being calculated in an attempt to fit all these components into the smallest box possible so that we don’t take up a huge amount of retail shelf space. The storyline and much of the other content was revised and improved for the instructions and web site.
Chaostle Status Report (July 18, 2005)
Chaostle is back on track after a couple of painful delays and major cost concerns. The pewter minis will remain their original size! We will not have to shrink them to keep the cost of the game down. We have found a more affordable mix of lead-free pewter that results in stronger minis, but still has some desired flexibility. Much progress has also been made on the multi-level castles. Most of the original details have been captured in the new molds and they are looking good. Chivalry Games will not be attending GenCon Indy due to the recent production delays, but we plan to have a full convention schedule for 2006. We will be announcing a new tentative release date for Chaostle soon. We are working hard to have it completed in 2005.
Chaostle Status Report (June 3, 2005)
Chaostle production is experiencing delays as usual. There are several concerns surrounding the quality and cost of manufacturing the pewter miniatures. Chivalry Games is committed to providing high quality pewter minis while keeping the cost of the game as low as possible. All alternatives are being reviewed including the use of other companies to produce the pewter miniatures. Hopefully these issues will be resolved soon so we can get back on track.
Chaostle Status Report (May 6, 2005)
Chaostle was recently featured in our first printed articles ever. You can see them in the Spring 2005 edition of the Games Quarterly Catalog (page 49), and the March 2005 edition of Game Buyer (page 23). Chivalry Games will be a sponsor and be participating in National Games Week 2005 this year scheduled November 20-26, 2005. We also plan on attending and celebrating the release of Chaostle at either Origins (June 30 - July 3, 2005) or GenCon Indy (August 18-21, 2005) depending on when production of the game is completed.
Chaostle Status Report (April 22, 2005)
The manufacturer mentioned this week that the castle pieces are coming along, and they should have some news soon. We are enlarging the castle pieces to make up for shrinking during the production process. We are also experiencing sizing problems with the pewter miniature characters. Some of the characters such as the Dragon are very large and therefore require a lot of pewter making them costly. To keep the overall game cost down, we will need to shrink some of these larger characters. Another alternative is to shrink all of the characters slightly to reduce the overall pewter requirement while maintaining the current size ratios between characters.
Chaostle Status Report (April 8, 2005)
We have been receiving several different samples from the factories. We have been reviewing different mixes of pewter for the miniature characters. We received our first sample battle card to verify the quality and thickness. We have reviewed several sample castle pieces of varying levels of hardness. The castle pieces are currently being resculpted in a larger size, because they shrink during the manufacturing process. The sculptors are attempting to capture all of the details of the originals.
Chaostle Status Report (April 1, 2005)
The 2005 GAMA Trade Show was a huge success for Chaostle. Chivalry Games had a booth to display the game and handout flyers. Mark Jacobs gave a presentation about the Chaostle features at the show to a room full of retailers and distributors. Mark distributed sample products to the attendees consisting of the Dragon Maiden pewter miniature and battle card. Many retailers and several distributors are already interested in carrying Chaostle as a result of the show.
